Masterclasses 2018, held on Sunday 8 April at the Adelaide College of the Arts, was a vibrant and exciting experience for all in attendance. We had seventy-seven students including Poppy and Meghan, our two Youth Ambassadors from 2017, and Jessica and Charlotte from The Australian Ballet School.
Students came from 21 local ballet schools and one from Mt Gambier.
Older students enjoyed three classes during the day - Classical classes taken by former principal ballerina of The Australian Ballet, Madeleine Eastoe or Anthony Bridgman for Boys classes; Contemporary classes taken by Kylie Goeldner from Brisbane; and Flamenco classes which were taken by Monika Hatcher. Our pianist was Alex Poznak.
The youngest group greatly enjoyed their Classical ballet class taken by Jacqui Stratton-Smith, had fun with Hip Hop taken by Stacy Pastro, and immersed themselves in Dance Drama with Cheryl Bradley.
Teachers were again delighted to have been invited to watch classes and be included in the faculty lunch.
Friends of The Australian Ballet SA committee members and helpers were impressed by the energy and enthusiasm of everyone on the day. Our thanks to Smart Health & Training for sponsoring the two Smart Dancer Award which were chosen by Madeleine Eastow and Kylie Goeldner and awarded to Raven Loan and Charly Hopkins.
As 2018 FABSA Youth Ambassadors, Raven & Charly will be provided with numerous opportunities to engage with The Australian Ballet, perform, obtain mentoring and support, and attend and host events.
Thankyou to all participants, we hope to see you at 2019 Masterclasses.
