FABSA members, committee and Friends enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on Sunday 22 July 2018 at the Adelaide College of the Arts with guest speaker Lisa Pavane, Director of The Australian Ballet School.
Lisa had attended The Australian Ballet School Masterclasses earlier in the day which provide her with the opportunity to view in a class setting, dancers who may aspire to join the school in Melbourne.
Lisa shared some of her incredibly interesting journey with us including the therapeutic benefits early ballet training provided to combat the effects of a premature birth. At the age of 12 Lisa was accepted as a student at the Australian Ballet School under Marilyn Rowe. She rose quickly to become a principal dancer and enjoyed a long and successful career in the UK. A few years post her retirement from professional dance Lisa was invited to return to the Australian Ballet School where she succeeded Marilyn Rowe as Director.
Lisa thanked FABSA for its ongoing support of The Australian Ballet School and local dancers, including the important contribution of a bursary to assist a South Australian student with financial help.
